This unique and first of its kind intensive training for small evangelical urban ministry executives is designed for those called of God with a heart and passion for reaching the "least of these" in our nation's "at-risk communities". This training is NOT exclusively for Executive Directors. If you are the program director responsible for running and funding your program or you would simply like to further your own education, then this unique urban faith-based training is for you as well. Please don't let the title fool you because we all know "it's not your title that counts, it's your testimony".

We are keeping this group intentionally small so that you can gain the most from the invited experts and, just as importantly, to learn from your peers. Bring your unique story and testimony and join us for this uplifting, inspiring, and practical training as together we learn to "Build Our Boats and Keep them Afloat".

You've often heard it said or have said about yourself, "I'm a jack of all trades and master of none." Too often urban ministry leaders have used that phrase. However, in these days of intense legal, financial, and moral scrutiny I say, although we can't know everything, "we must master some".

During these two days, you will start to "master" some skills in order to help you become a more efficient, effective, and energized executive. We also say, "Sometimes it's not what you know but what you don't know that will hurt you". Therefore we uncover those things that can hurt you and your ministry if you're not prepared or don't have your bases covered.

We know how difficult it is to raise enough funds to keep your programs going while at the same time, create, plan, and implement the programs and dreams God has given you to minister in your community. That is why this ED training is a vital part of the YouthPartnersNET training program.

This unique and specific ED training is designed for small faith-based organizations and will cover topics such as:
• "Funding Your Ministry - 30 ways to raise a boatload of cash"
• "Building Your Board - models, methods, and results"
• "Manning Your Boat - listening, learning & leading you crew"
• "Cultivating Creative Leadership"
• "Foundations & Grant Writing - plugging the holes and keeping your boat afloat"
• "Workplace giving campaigns - join YPN and Combined Federal Campaign network"
• "Understanding & accessing the Federal Faith-based funding resources"
• Review FASTEN’s "Getting the Most out of Your Project & Proposal; A Guide From Beginning to End"
•  "Twigs, Turns, Timing, Terra Firma - Two by Two"
In addition to these hands-on-seminars, you will receive with your registration the following manuals & books worth over $160:
• FASTEN's 180 page fundraising and management manual
• YPN's ED Resource Notebook
• NASS fundraising manual with hands on practical ways to increase your donor and board, community giving
• CAST: Effective Urban/Suburban Partnerships by YPN President Rev. Dean Cowles

The normal costs for this kind of training would be $275 but YPN was able to secure scholarships so that the cost is only $89.00 for this two-day intensive ED training.

Dear YPN:

Encouraging and mindful of the reality of those in the field. Thank you for sharing your gifts so we can share ours more effectively.

Greetings Dean;

I attended the seminar in Washington, DC and am grateful to Brian Postlewait for directing me to it. I found the information to be well organized and presented. I left wishing we could have had another day. From my business experience, I could see how much value there was in the presentations to those who may not have had some of the experiences that I have. The resources that were given out and those made available are most helpful. I have recommended to our District Superintendent that he make this training mandatory for the executive directors of all non-profits affiliated with the district.

Just want to thank you for your executive training here in Chicago in April. I took a great deal away from your teaching and greatly appreciate JP and his prayers and support here in Chicago.

This series of intensive workshops opened my eyes to some new approaches that I would like to implement to increase our organizations effectiveness. Along with coming away from this time with armloads of resources, I was filled back up. Being an Executive Director or spouse of a director takes a unique energy level and creates a heavy drain on us spiritually. Having time to fellowship, network and worship with like minded and similarly called brothers and sisters was worth all the time it took to arrange for the time off to attend this event. If we don't create time to be filled back up by the Holy Spirit we will not be effective leaders in ministry in the long haul. YPN, its talented staff, as well as the highly qualified speakers created an intensive environment which will have you thinking for months down the road. Go, be inspired, come away transformed!

Dear Pastor Dean,

Hello and greetings from The River and the mountains of East Tennessee. I am writing to thank you, and Shelley, for the amazing leadership training I participated in during September. It would take a whole notebook for me to record all that I learned. There was so much of just what I needed - it was definitely a God thing. Not only did I learn more about leading a non-profit, but I was also affirmed in knowing what I have and am doing right. Thanks for that. Those feelings can sometimes be few and far between. Please let me know if and when you are back in the area with any other training. I'd really be interested in attending. God bless you and yours for all you do and have done. It is great. Take care and be well.

The ED Training was great. We came to LA all the way from Houston, TX. The information and experiences that Dean shared with us was a tremendous blessing. It shifted our thinking regarding organizational structure and fundraising. He gave us some real hands-on, from the inside information that we have been able to implement and put to use. The whole concept of Community Development Corporations to raise money was very new to us, but we have already began thinking about how to implement it. I would reccommend that any staff of a faith-based non profit get to a YPN ED Training ASAP.
